March news from the studio

Hello everyone! Perhaps you signed up for this e-newsletter so long ago you’ve forgotten all about it. Perhaps you’re a new subscriber. I just want to give you all a heads up before we dive into the meaty stuff. Be prepared, there will be frequent nods to Rush (the totally awesome band) throughout these updates.

Distant Early Warning - Gallery Show

In 2024 I launched the inaugural Where there's Smoke gallery show and I am very pleased to continue the tradition into 2025. Where there's smoke 2025 will be on display Aug 15-23rd at Ketchup Creative in Sharpsburg, PA. More details forthcoming, but mark the calendars for the closing date, Sat August 23rd. While the images swirl around FireFighters and First Responders I wouldn't put it past me to sneak in some other content as well.

Lessons

I’ll be teaching a class on drawing maps at the North Hills Art Center, April 12th and May 17th.

These classes are more about drawing maps for games or for fun or for your make believe world than actual nitty gritty cartography, so don’t feel intimidated. Ages 12 to adults. Class registration posted soon on their website. https://www.northhillsartcenter.org/classes-more

Studio

What have I been doing in my small little room I call my studio? Reworking some old ideas actually. I’ve had a bit of a learning curve after jumping back into oils, but things seem to be picking up pace now and illustrations I did a few months ago are in need of an upgrade. The two I started with are “An Ill wind” and “Black Sheep, White Dragon”. I’ll be posting more about this process on my blog with some fun images of these original pieces that I did back when I was a teen. BUT also finishing up a private commission. Stay tuned, for the big reveal.
