RIP Chet

When I was a kid, we watched Emergency all the time. But after all these years, it isn't Johnny or Roy that I recall so fondly - it's Chet Kelly.

While Johnny and Roy were busy doing their thing, it was Chet that was cheering up the kid with her arm stuck in the pool drain with stories about Johnny rescuing a parrot. Or giving the baby CPR, or consoling the face of the kid that survived the plane crash.

I don't know if this by design via the writers and producers, or if this was just Tim Donnelly's true character shining through, but this has just always stuck with me. Someone helping the kids.

I know these characters aren't real, but wouldn't be a wonderful world if they were?

I wish there were more Chet Kelly's out there.
